Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Tatin ("we", "us") and govern your use of the Tatin app and website. By creating an account or using Tatin, you agree to them. Like our privacy policy, we try to keep this short and honest. If anything is unclear, get in touch.
The service
Tatin is a language-learning app where you practice conversations — by text and by voice — with AI characters in everyday situations, and get feedback on your progress and pronunciation. You need an account and an internet connection to use it. We're always improving Tatin, so features may change, be added, or be retired over time.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Tatin.
- Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep your sign-in credentials to yourself.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else is using it, tell us.
- You can delete your account at any time (see how).
Free tier and subscriptions
You can use Tatin for free with daily usage limits. Tatin Premium removes those limits and is offered as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription.
- Billing. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and payment is charged to that store account. The price is shown before you confirm the purchase.
- Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You manage and cancel it in your store's subscription settings, not in the Tatin app.
- Free trials. Some plans include a free trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the paid subscription starts automatically. Any unused trial time is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Cancellation. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by the store you purchased through, under its policies.
- Promo codes. We sometimes offer redeem codes for Premium. They're one-time use, non-transferable, have no cash value, and may expire.
- Price changes. If a subscription price changes, the store will notify you, and the change applies only to renewals after that notice.
Your content
The things you write and the recordings you make in Tatin are yours. You give us permission to store and process them so we can run the service — generate replies, transcribe your speech, score your pronunciation, and show your history — as described in our privacy policy. If you use a sharing feature (like sharing a conversation comic), sharing is your choice and your responsibility.
AI conversations
Tatin's characters are fictional and their replies are generated by AI. They are designed for language practice, and they can be inaccurate, incomplete, or odd. Nothing a character says is professional advice — not legal, medical, financial, or otherwise. Pronunciation scores and grammar feedback are automated estimates meant to guide your learning, not formal assessments or certifications.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Use Tatin for anything illegal, or to generate or spread harmful or abusive content.
- Try to break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service, or access other people's accounts or data.
- Scrape the service or use it to build a competing dataset or product.
- Resell, share, or trade accounts, subscriptions, or redeem codes.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first.
Our content
The Tatin app, brand, characters, situations, and everything we've built around them belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial license to use the app for learning languages. That's the only license you get — these terms don't transfer any ownership to you.
Ending things
You can stop using Tatin and delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, and we may discontinue the service itself with reasonable notice. Sections that by their nature should survive (like ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) survive account closure.
Disclaimers and liability
Tatin is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of any kind, and our total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Tatin after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
